Economic Development
Building an Economy That Works for Everyone
A strong, inclusive economy is the foundation of opportunity, and it must work for all Marylanders,
That means investing in both small and large businesses, expanding access to capital, and modernizing state regulations to reduce unnecessary red tape and support growth. It also means being intentional about equity, by actively supporting Black, Latino, Asian, women, and other minority-owned businesses across the state, as well as standing with our displaced federal workers.
Tazeen will champion incentives for businesses that prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, and create meaningful opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental differences.
She will also advocate for the critical infrastructure that supports economic mobility, including affordable housing, reliable public transportation, and community development that serves the needs of working families.
Economic opportunity must also mean fair treatment for workers. Tazeen will fight for:
- Fair wages.
- Paid family and medical leave.
- Access to quality, affordable healthcare.
Because no one should have to choose between their health, their family, and their paycheck.
Protect Education
A Path to Equity and Opportunity
Education is the foundation of a strong economy, and a just society. It empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and opens doors to opportunity. Yet, for too many students in Maryland, barriers to success still persist.
Tazeen is committed to breaking down those barriers and ensuring every child in Maryland has access to a high-quality, fully funded public education. She will fight for the full implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, a landmark plan to transform our public education system and deliver real results. That includes enforcing accountability measures to ensure schools and districts stay on track.
Tazeen will champion efforts to:
- Recruit and retain a high-quality, diverse educator workforce.
- Expand early childhood education and support for all students, including those with intellectual, developmental disabilities.
- Grow career and technical education, STEM programs, and workforce partnerships to prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow.
- Provide teachers and school staff with the resources and support they need to help every student thrive.
She also understands the real challenges our schools face, including overcrowded classrooms, chronic absenteeism, and widening achievement gaps, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. These are not just education issues, they are equity issues.
For Tazeen, investing in education isn’t just a policy priority, it’s a moral commitment to equity, opportunity, and the future of every child in Maryland.
Preserve Our Environment
Maryland must lead—not with words, but with action.
We are at a tipping point in the fight against climate change, and the decisions we make today will shape the health, safety, and prosperity of generations to come. Climate action isn’t optional; it’s essential to our well-being, our economy, and the legacy we leave behind for our children and grandchildren.
Maryland has made important strides, including the passage of the Climate Solutions Now Act of 2022, but there’s still much more to do. Tazeen is committed to bold, urgent action that protects our environment and promotes environmental justice for every community.
She will fight to:
- Slash carbon emissions and hold polluters accountable.
- Invest in clean, renewable energy to drive innovation and economic growth.
- Advance environmental justice by protecting communities from pollution and neglect.
- Support walkable, sustainable communities with accessible public transit and green spaces.
- Preserve Maryland’s natural resources, from the Chesapeake Bay to our parks, forests, and waterways.
Tazeen believes a healthier, more resilient Maryland is not only possible, it’s necessary. By acting now, we can lead the way on climate, improve public health, and create a more just and sustainable future for all.
Ensuring Healthcare Access
Healthcare Is a Right Not a Privilege
Tazeen believes that healthcare is a human right, no one should be denied the care they need to live a healthy, dignified life. As Delegate, she will fight to ensure that every Marylander has access to affordable, high-quality healthcare, including behaviorial health services, reproductive care, and comprehensive support for caregivers and seniors.
Her approach is holistic and inclusive, because true health goes beyond medical care. It means tackling the root causes of poor health, like food insecurity, and eliminating the disparities that continue to affect underserved communities.
Tazeen will:
- Protect abortion access and reproductive freedom.
- Expand access to behaviorial health care across all age groups.
- Support healthcare providers and frontline workers.
- Strengthen support for caregivers and improve long-term care for seniors.
- Raise wages and training standards for home health and elder care workers.
- Address food insecurity and other social determinants of health to reduce disparities.
As Maryland’s population ages, Tazeen is committed to ensuring that seniors can age with dignity, by expanding in-home care, improving long-term care facility standards, and ensuring both seniors and their caregivers receive the respect, protection, and resources they deserve.
For Tazeen, healthcare isn't just about policy, it's about people, equity, and quality of life for every Marylander.
Defending Civil Liberties for All
Fighting Hate, Building Community
At a time when racism, intolerance, and discrimination are on the rise, Tazeen is committed to protecting civil rights and creating a more inclusive Maryland for all.
She will stand firmly against hate in all its forms, including racism, misogyny, xenophobia, antisemitism, Islamophobia, and discrimination against the LGBTQIA+, Trans, and immigrant communities. Tazeen believes every Marylander deserves to live with dignity, safety, and respect.
Tazeen will:
- Defend civil liberties and equal protections under the law.
- Advocate for inclusive policies that protect marginalized communities.
- Support efforts to confront systemic bias in housing, education, healthcare, and the justice system.
- Ensure government remains accessible, responsive, and grounded in empathy.
- Lead with open dialogue and active listening, valuing every voice and lived experience.
For Tazeen, inclusion is not just a value, it’s a guiding principle. She will always listen, learn, and lead with the goal of building a Maryland where everyone feels seen, heard, and protected.
