Up 2 Us Foundation Key Efforts

• Established over 30 successful partnerships to expand and increase food distribution activities, which included three USDA Farmers to Families Food Box grantees, the Capital Area Food Bank, Manna Food Center, Montgomery County Council, DHHS, Montgomery College, Safeway Foundation and Montgomery County Public Schools
• Raised over $183,000 in grants and donations in 2020 to fund operations.
• Submitted testimony in support of creating the White House Conference on Hunger Nutrition and Health to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Rules on Ending Hunger in America
• Lobbied at the federal level in support of H.R. 6613, Keeping School Meals Flexible Act to extend U.S. Department of Agriculture’s child nutrition waivers authority beyond June 30, 2022.
• Developing a new program that aims to improve the quality of life in our community by providing need-based scholarships and other support to individuals from underserved communities who seek to pursue or advance careers in healthcare with a particular focus on supporting women of color.
