I'm Tazeen Ahmad, and I'm Running for Delegate in D-16

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am excited to officially announce my candidacy for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 16.

District 16 isn’t just where I live, it's home. It's where I’ve built my life for the past 40 years. It’s where I raised two incredible children, both proud MCPS graduates. It’s where I have experienced firsthand the impact of strong schools, safe neighborhoods, quality healthcare, economic opportunity and the importance of environmental sustainability, not just as policies on a page, but as lifelines for real families - families like yours, and families like mine.

And now, I’m ready to fight for all of that for you in Annapolis.

From managing a family-owned business to serving as a CFO at a bipartisan government relations firm in D.C., I’ve spent my life solving problems and making things work. I’ve also co-founded a nonprofit with my daughter, Marium, to combat hunger, distributing over 1 million pounds of food to families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Whether it’s business, advocacy, or service, my mission has always been clear: when you see a need, you step up.

Now, I’m stepping up to lead, because there’s so much at stake.

We're facing major challenges in Maryland: looming budget deficits, stagnant growth, housing shortages, attacks on healthcare and education, and threats to our civil rights. While the Trump Administration dismantles federal protections, our state must act with urgency and resolve.

I bring to this campaign a lifelong commitment to public service, a deep love for our community, and a clear vision for a better future. I’m not a career politician, I am a neighbor, a listener, and someone ready to work hard every day for you.

But this campaign isn’t about me; it’s about all of us. I can’t do this alone. I need your support, your ideas, and your voice.
